"3[rd biggest Long Island story of 2004]. Peter Sylver Scandal Nassau County's Watergate, complete with sexual abuse charges, is a shocker that has it all: allegations of missing millions of federal grant monies earmarked for the poor, top officials having mysterious overnight rendezvous in luxurious hotel rooms, accusations of sexual misdeeds, damning videotape, a cover-up, payoff, confidentiality agreements, patronage jobsyou name it. And at the center of it all was County Executive Tom Suozzi and his handpicked Deputy County Executive Peter Sylver. There were multiple investigations, FBI raids targeting computers and county documents, whispers of voter fraud and records-shredding parties, massive firings, missing witnesses, sketchy business arrangements with even sketchier characters, and all of it at the vortex of a massive media frenzy. It seemed as though this thing led all the way to the top. The Nassau County Legislature's Rules Committee held hearings, only to have the testimony shut down before any of the actual truth could be dug out. Sylver was arrested, pleaded guilty to three misdemeanor charges, including harassment for inappropriate physical contact with a woman, and got three years' probation. Some believe he took the bullet for much bigger fish, and that he holds the keys to other doors. Many unanswered questions remain. And the whole thing erupted because a few county employees refused to commit crimes when they came to work and instead decided to blow the whistle. "Not good.

Suozzi damaged goods?
This was brought to my attention today.
I have to say I wasn't aware of this before, and it sheds new light on the leader of the FixAlbany movement.
